What type of background do I need to pursue a certificate in Toxicology/Industrial Hygiene?
Both toxicology and industrial hygiene disciplines rely on basic biochemistry and human physiology knowledge. Hence, coursework in these, or similar areas is advisable. Moreover, work experience which includes dealing with issues surrounding exposure to toxic substances or toxic environmental factors is helpful.
Will you accept my application if I have a high school diploma?
No, currently we are only accepting applicants who have completed an undergraduate degree program (preferably in the sciences).
Is the CTIH program equivalent to the professional certifications awarded by the American Board of Toxicology (ABT), American Council of Governmental Industrial Hygienests (ACGIH), or similar professional organizations?
No, the CTIH program is NOT EQUIVALENT to a professional certification awarded by these organizations. However the courses offered in the CTIH program are helpful if you plan to pursue a professional certification from these organizations.
